87 force 125 low speeds with open throttle

WOT only yielding approx 2000 RPM, 10 MPH.

tried new spark plugs, wires look good.

fuel filter screen is clean.

any ideas?

Timing, fuel delivery, cable adjustments, cylinders firing, compression, for starters. Need just a few more details.

Do a compression test and spark on all 4 cylinders. Check fuel pump for proper flow. Carbs may need adjusting. Are both carbs opening up all the way at wot. Remove top cowl cover while running and check for exhaust leak. Could be a timing issue but not likely.

update after trying again this weekend...
we sprayed some carb cleaner, however, still only got up to 10MPH on the way out of the river. HOWEVER, after trolling around a bit, a few stops and starts while drift fishing, we got 20MPH on the way back to the dock. is this indication that the carb cleaner worked? this motor used to run closer to 30MPH. will try replacing fuel pump next. i also need to get compression test tools. will update again soon. thanks for the help guys.
