1987 Force 125hp ser#1258V7B. Having a hard time finding a carb. body for the bottom carb. I was told either a top or bottom carb. would work.
Parts # (TOP) F589061 (BOTTOM) F664061. Found one on ebay but the seller said it came off a 50hp FORCE. This is the only one I can find anywhere on the internet. Am waiting to here back from him to see what numbers are stamped on the side. Does anyone know if a 50hp carb will work on a 125hp. I think it would be to small but maybe it was listed wrong. If not does anyone know where I can find another carb. I really just need the carb. body but will buy a complete assembly if I have to.

Re: 87' force 125

No, usually a 50 HP carb will not work. The 125 usually came with TC carbs. Earlier Force 50 HP came with WB or WE carbs which are much smaller. HOWEVER: late Force 50 engines came with TC carbs and those will fit.

It is do-able, but a bad idea to mix and match carbs--better to have a matched set.

Now, although your top and bottom carbs have a different number, the carbs are exactly the same EXCEPT for the fuel inlet nipple. Bottom carb has a tee and top carb has a 90. So, yes a top or bottom carb will work. Post your carb number--ie. TC5D, TC4E etc. and I will see if I have an old one laying in my garage.

Frank, the only numbers I see on the carbs are F589061 for the top and F664061 for the bottom. Where would the numbers you are looking for be located at. Thanks for the help

I am curious as to what happened to your original carb body that would require replacement?

Re: 87' force 125

They all are made by Tillotsen, with this caveat: Some were made by Walbro and looked exactly the same as WB carbs in engine schematics, leading me to think that Walbro MAY have been another Tillotsen brand. I have never seen a chrysler or Force with a Walbro carb.

TC will be stamped on one flange if it is there at all. The TC carbs were massive, with a 1 5/8 diameter venturi while the smaller WB carbs had diameters ranging from 1 3/16 to 1 5/16 on the bigger engines. Smaller engines like 20 and 35 had even smaller venturis cast in the same WB carb body.

later on (after 94) when Merc started modifying the engines, they used TC carbs on the 50, 70, and 75 and the bore on all these engines was changed to 3.375 diameter.

Re: 87' force 125

While taking out my float pin the two little brackets that the pin slide through snapped right off. Tried to JB weld them back on but no luck. Now having a hard time finding a replacement. Some said that I maybe be able to replace both carbs with a set off a late 80s 85hp if I swap out both the carbs. This doesn't sound right to me because wont the jets be smaller in the 85hp carbs.

Frank, I will look again and see if I can find the numbers you need, hope you can help me out. It's been a nightmare not having this motor running

Re: 87' force 125

Would a set of carburators off a 1990 150hp Force work with my 125hp Force. I think I read on one of the post on this fourm somewhwere that they were trying it. There's two different sets on EBAY for around 100.00.
