87 force 15: how the hell do i remove these screws????

Can someone please tell me how to get these flathead screws off? drenched with wd40 and still cant get them off???

look online at a impact screwdriver. You hit the back and a cam makes the driver turn slightly which will undo the screw

Start by using a more effective penetrating oil, like Kroil, PB Blaster, or Liquid Wrench. WD 40 isn't good for this. Then use an impact driver like this one: Amazon.com: Powerbuilt 648002 1/2-Inch Drive Impact Driver Kit: Home Improvement

You should be able to peck them with a hammer several time and the vibration will help loosen them.

Don't forget "Our Friend Heat" Using a propane torch heat the gearcase only in the area of the screws and try to remove while hot.

BTW: Those don't look like original screws. Stock parts were usually stainless steel allen head cap screws-- But perhaps Force changed them.

Try Autozone for an impact driver. I paid $9.99 I think. I was trying to remove my throttle assembly on my side panel and the screw just would not budge with PB Blaster, screwdriver & hammer, even the electric drill. Best $10.00 I spent. Couple of wacks with the hammer on the impact driver and the driver has far more hand grip area, so worked great. They are also great for really tightening up screws that you don't want to come loose too.

My lower unit is missing #22 clutch pin. I noticed when I hold the crank shaft I can still spin the prop shaft when inside?? Is that normal or neither should move if holding one from spinning

Your engine has forward, neutral, and reverse. The drive shaft turns a pinion gear which is constant mesh with the forward and reverse gears, The all turn constantly any time the engine is running. The dog clutch is splined to the prop shaft and in neutral it is ceneterd between the drive gears, not engaging either one. The prop shaft will spin freely.

When the dog clutch is slid either forward or backward to engage forward or reverse gears, the gear turns the dog clutch, the clutch is splined to the prop shaft, and the clutch turns the prop shaft and propeller.

The pin is a standard roll pin and connects the dog clutch to the activating shaft centered inside the prop shaft. Without the pin, the lower unit will not shift.
