Can anybody tell me why this happens and if its normal??
Q1) I squeezed the primer bulb on the gas tank slowly until it got hard then I started pulling the starter rope (would not start) then I seen a little bit of gas build up under the carb in the lowest point of the lower cowl. Is that normal and I think it might be coming from the choke. But after about 3 min wait it started up.
Q2) I kept trying to start the engine by pulling until I was dripping in sweat would not start. (this is after I kept squeezing primer bulb till stiff). I waited about 3 min and after about 5 pulls it started up. mind you I did not use primer bulb on the engine because it has a hole (ordered new bulb). So why is this happening and how do I start it without pulling the rope 85 times?

Re: 87 Force 15hp help??

First do a compression and spark test.
You have the serial#??? Your motor can have 3 different carbs and 1-2 different fuel pumps??
Clean the carb.Rebuild the fuel pump.
Set the air screw(usually the screw with the spring) at about 1 turn out.
There are small holes in the carb that can be clogged, make sure they are open.
Get a couple of sets of plugs(you sure the ones in there are the right ones?)Champion RL82 or B6HS NGK
Make sure the gap is set.
If you've been having trouble starting.
The cylinders and everything is coated in oil and will take some burning off to clear out the system.
I don't usually say this but a quick shot of starting fluid will help. You really should NEVER need starting fluid.Unless there is a problem??

champ spark plugs. I brought it to a marina for a tune up a month ago. I have no clue what they did but I know I paid 250. I will buy a compression tester and spark tester and post results. After I got the engine going and I shut it. it started right up afterwards. but I know plugs are new because they changed them.
