'87 Force85: Questions while replacing water pump

Many people have warned me about the impeller and seal... so I decided to inspect/repair. I would appreciate any feedback on my findings...

I removed the water pump and will replace the impeller and housing. The inside looked a bit rough:

I think I should replace the gear oil, or at least inspect it. If I replace it, is the hex screw a drain hole, or am I just supposed to use the vent/fill holes? What type of oil? Should I get into the gear housing or leave it alone?

Next, I'm just curious where water is allowed, and where it's not. When I look down through the top by the head, with the lower unit removed, I can see daylight. It also appears that the unit where the shift coupling attaches is exposed to water. But It seems that water should not be in this area:

Is it?

The idle exhaust boot also looks a bit rough and there is wetness in that area:

Should this be replaced? Any suggestions on replacing it?

Next, a few of the bolts on the powerhead are rusted. Everything else looks pretty clean. Should I replace these, or leave them alone?

Lastly, my prop has a few chips on it, but otherwise seems ok. No major dings. Should I sand/paint, or leave it alone?prop.jpg

Thanks for any tips or suggestions!

Pic 1 that looks like any Force that's seen use.
Just wire brush it and grease it good.
Thread chaser on the holes.
#2 again normal. Salt water? That hole used to have a red plug in there.
#3 The steel clamp looks like it needs to be replaced.
It can leak and leak exhaust gasses in the cowl.
#4 Wire brush and spray paint.
#5 Nothing wong here other than it's an older style prop on a newer unit.
Just make sure it's the right pitch. What are the RPM's at WOT?

Thanks Jerry!
#2 - should I plug the hole? Is that area supposed to stay dry, or does some water get in? Should it be rinsed out after salt-water use?

I don't know the exact RPM at WOT. I can report back once the job is complete. I do have a few other props (I inherited the boat) in a box and will compare.

regarding the prop:
I inherited the boat. It's a '71 Glasstron open bow, with a replaced 1987 Force 85HP. It came with the Michigan prop that is on it now, with the photo above and the markings: 13 R 19 MWC 24?G

Range for this motor appears to be 4500-5000. WOT is about 5000, but like I said, I can tell you for sure when I get this back together :)

There are two other props.props.jpg

- The left one is a Michigan 071037 : Michigan Match Aluminum Diameter:13? Pitch: 19? Blades: 3 Rotation: Standard.
- The right one is unknown. It has a few markings: PS654 A654265 19C. appears to be same size and pitch, but maybe missing a piece? (the flared hub?)

I don't know why he had 3. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Re: '87 Force85: Questions while replacing water pump

Pics didn't show.
No, my motors lost the plugs a long time ago.
They're gonna get water in no matter what you do.
Yes wash it out.
I used Dawn soap.
Then I use WD-40 as a spray to lube the moving pieces.
The 5000 is a bit low.
If all props are 19p(looks like it) then maybe look for a 17.
Your props are 19p the 19c means cupped. They all are cupped weather it says it or not.
My motors need a 17p.
The fuel usage when I tried a 19p was about 20% more, so I changed back to a 17.
