Well I couldn't resist this question as I too looked at the pics and saw that the item codes are the same, the dimensions are the same and the base metal is the same. So I googled and ended up in Wikipaedia which talked about a metal called Monel. The article drones about the chemical make up, blah, blah and ends by saying that Arrow fasteners use iit in their T50 staples to rustproof them. Importantly it says that Monel is harder hit by Galvanic corrosion and quoteda ship that was built entirely of Monel and it rusted away in 6 weeks. I can only guess from all that, that the ones which say NOT for Marine application have the Monel and the others don't. I'm sure somebody else will have a comment on this intriguing question!
