Just Recently Found This Forum And It Is Excellent. But...i Have Read All The Threads, To No Avail. I Have An 87 Zuki That I Bought New. This Seems Crazy, But It Runs Great Until You Hit A Bump(like A Wave Or A Wake) Then It Bogs Down To A Crawl. I Was Able To Shut It Off And It Would Start Right Back Up And Be Fine Until The Next Bump. But Now It Won't Even Do That. When It Bogs It Usually Doesn't Die, It Just Sounds Like It Is Starving For Gas.the Problem Seemed To Start After I Ran It Out Of Gas. I Had The Carbs Pulled And Cleaned. I Purchased A Portable Gas Tank To Eliminate Any Tank Possibilities.
I Can Hit The Choke And It Catches For A Split Second. I Can Pull Throttle To Neutral And When I Put It Back In Gear And Give It Full Throttle It Also Wants To Go But It Is As If I Have A Bad Sensor That Is Not Allowing It To Accelerate.
I Have A Fuel Pump Diaphram Kit Coming.....
P.s. If I Just Go Easy And Stay In Calm Water It Does Fine. Unbeliveable..................................

Re: 87 suzuki throttle problem

The clue there is the fact that it tried to pick up when you closed the choke.
Fuel starvation is the most likely issue. The fuel pump may fix the problem but I would check that fuel is getting to the carbs when you use the primer bulb. Also check that the small filter is not blocked and if the floats are not set correctly you will have all kinds of fuel related problems.
