88 3.o mercruiser gimbal bolt removal

Do I need a special tool to remove the gimbal pivot bolts located under the trim sending units? Is this a pretty straight forward procedure. Any input would be appreciated. I need to replace all the rubber and the water inlet tube and thought it would be easier with the bell housing off. Thanks, Jim

I believe it's a 1/2" allen head.......

It's a 12-point 1/2" socket. Merc do a special tool for it. Part number is 91-78310.
