ok so i just put the motor back in the boat cuz motor went out for a rebuild but when i removed the harness from the motor i did not unplug anything the harness came out in one piece. so installed the motor and harness back in the boat and went to crank it and it did not want to start so i had gas but no spark, so Don S said on a post befor to jump the plus side of the coil to the batt and see if there is spark so i did that and the motor start right up. so my ? is to startup the motor i have to have the "jumper wire" connected to start the motor then i can remove the jumper wire and the motor will stay running and then if i turn the key to off the motor turns off like it should but if i leave the the jumper wire on the batt and then turn the key off the motor still be running intill i remove the jumper wire?????? lol like wtf:confused::facepalm: oh another ? i see on my manual that the 5.0 exhoust raiser is at the end and the 5.7 raiser is in the middle does it mater if the raiser is in the middle or at the end???? 1988 omc 5.7 with 2 bbl carb and points

It would be easier to read and understand your post if you used some punctuation. The long sentences are hard to follow.

f i leave the the jumper wire on the batt and then turn the key off the motor still be running intill i remove the jumper wire?????? lol like wtf

The jumper wire is only for testing, not for running all the time, geeeezzzzzz.

From your ramblings, It sounds like you forgot to put on the purple/blue wire from the starter solenoid (Small terminal farthest from the block) to the + terminal of the coil.

Well, If you don't want to punctuate, just put a SPACE (LINE-FEED) between each sentence so we can read it a little easier!

Where on the bellhousing? near the starter? or near the coil?
You should have a wire that goes from that outside terminal on the starter solenoid to the + terminal on the coil. That is what puts power to the coil WHILE THE STARTER IS CRANKING THE ENGINE only, not when running.
