My 1988 OMC (88 thru 110 HP) manual calls for 28 degrees BTDC +-1.

Havn't had a chance to re-set the timing but plan to this week. The manual says 28 degrees and it has a sticker on the motor that states this also. If I use Joe Reeves method would I also be able to check it while running at WOT just to double check. I would have a buddy drive and I would check it. Just curious wether it would be accurate at WOT while running, i'm sure it would just want to double check.

I did exactly what you're suggesting... After using Joe's timing method, I had my son drive at WOT while I checked the timing with a light... Bang on!
