let me tell you what this motor is doing.<br /><br />i will be running wide open down the lake at around 4800 RPM's and it will just start slowing down about 100 RPM's every 30 seconds or so till it hits around 3000 and it will just die.<br /><br />there is no cracking or popping.<br /><br /><br />it wont idle.and i have to keep gunning the gas to keep it running while i get it in gear.<br /><br />it has gradually lost it ability to idle over the years.<br /><br /><br />does it have a fuel filter?<br /><br />i have cleaned carbs on motorcycles and cars before. if you think these need clean can i do them as well?<br /><br />there was one site that had a blown o\up pic of them too!<br /><br />what do you think the problem is?

yes, I would clean the carbs, <br /><br />I would also do a decarb and check the compression. 4800 is a bit low for WOT RPM's and you have been lugging the motor, bad thing...... <br /><br />You might want to consider a prop with a bit less pitch....
