I know I have a bad level switch it's unplugged and I have marked the tank and I'm sure its oiling well, but cant locate a replacement, even if I unplug the monitor gauge from the harness the lamp still stays lit,I have replaced oil flow sensor and checked all other sensors, tried reset on engine with the motor running with no response, ohmed reset switch and its working properly also i am not getting the buzzer indication as in the manuals,I have also ohmed and checked all cables for shorts and grounds, is there a way to test the suzuki monitor to rule it out or rule out the CDI unit.

My manual says to turn off the switch when the engine is running.

I have tried that and it didnt help,What gets me is the lamp stays lit even when the cable to the CDI is unplugged , meaning I only have the grey and black dash lighting wires going to the suzuki monitor, that indicates to me as an electronic tech that something inside is possibly backfeeding the lamp, and therefore backfeeding to the CDI when its connected, but the monitor is 120 bucks online and the CDI weighs in around $637 I really want to run some more tests before throwing money away and still having the same results. I just dont know what the normal conditions are on those devices to rule them out. Thanks for the Help though :)

does your oil filter have a pink and black wire coming out of it?
if I did not hurt so bad I would walk to the shop and get my manual. keep bumping and maybe I will by tomorrow. I have both the dt55 manual for that year as well as the electrical trouble shooting manual for that year.

I had the same problem ... in my case there was moisture on the oil level switch, I took the whole oil tank of cleaned it with lotsa fuel and let it dry out for about a week, built it back in and filled it back up ... problem solved and it didn't cost me a cent.

If you have a bad level switch then just replace it, they have in stock on http://www.brownspoint.com/

Yes my filter has the pink and black wires, I just changed and bled it to the oil pump and I'm getting good flow through the bleeding screw, replaced the hoses and clamps also, up to the oil pump but not the metered hoses from pump to the engine ( the ones with restricters in them)RE:level switch i researched the PN and the local suzi dealer said its discontinued I will try your method to see if I can clear that problem up Thanks, still baffled on the light staying on though without anything else connected

Grey wire is 12v key on. It will ALWAYS power the monitor, regardless of disconnecting the gauge. I found that filling the reservoir each time I got fuel, and changing the impeller every 2 years eliminated the need for the idiot lights.
