I have a question out of curiosity. How hard would it be for me to change over my carberators to injected? I realize that I probably would have to construct an aluminum intake from scratch but that is really not a big problem for me. What I also need to know is would I have to change my ignition system. This would be my biggest drawback I think. I do know that this model DT25 uses vacum actuated fuel pump and would have to change over to electric fuel delivery

I think you need to do some reading on how EFI systems work. What ECU and sensor system would you use to control the ignition and the injectors? You also need throttle position and crank position sensors that feed the ECU. The real question is, what do you hope to accomplish? You aren't going to double the horsepower, you won't double the fuel economy, and you will spend a bunch of money and you very likely will give up before the engine ever runs. But what the heck, Columbus took a chance. Go for it. And just so you know, modern two-stroke EFI is direct injection, not manifold injection.

it is possible, as I did it with a 50hp yamaha to run it on nitro's, but like justintime said, on a 25hp it is not worth it, cause it takes alot of work, took me almost a year to finish my project ...... good luck

DJ -- I've followed yor project off & on and I do have just one question! Did you retain the carbs and are injecting nitrous into the intake? If so, I think thats totally different than what Texasboy had in mind. I think he wants to eliminate the carbs and go full EFI. He can certainly accomplish that using manifold injection but there is some serious electronic work has to occur with such a project, not to mention the limited benefit. Of course there is always pleasure in owning a "one-off" anything -- even if it doesn't work well.

My carbs were all changed, different jets, different carbs, my plan originally was to run the motor on meths so all was changed for that, all stainless steel piping etc, and an electronic fuel pump, the nitro guys here set my system up with a management system to mix the nitro's and fuel ........

That's as I expected. I think Texasboy wants to do a total conversion from carbed to some sort of EFI system. That's a major challenge for the manufacturers and an even greater challenge for an amatuer. But -- as I said, it is certainly possible but at what expense and at what benefit.

I agree with you ..... for a 25hp it would not be worth it, unless you really have alot of spare cash and alot of spare time and you are trying to prove a point .... only reason I did it was to prove a point, and the fact that I have about 12 50hp modified yummies in my garage and to show my sponsors a bit of entertainment, now that I have done that the exitement is all gone ....
