channel master is at it again,,,,,,,,bahaha,,,, i'll give it a min to finish uploading,,,,bahahaha
been busy tonight with the sternrail. i ended up using 1/2 in quarter round,,,, not stained yet,,,, to hide the new addition under the sternrail. i also opted for a switch to be able to turn the stern lights off in case i get into trouble with the po po:D

this latest addition has to be the icing on the cake:D. it finishes the lights off nicely.

i used a switch on the black(ground) wire at the last set,,,, the rest are soldered and heatshrunk. the switch works perfectly. sooo given that info it is possible to omit any section,,, all ya need is a 3 position switch on both sides of the switchable section,,
both up all on,
both down,,section dark,, rest of run ok,,,
middle, no light past the switch
sweet that it works out great. if ya mounted any section so you cant drive while they are on,,,,, you can bypass it with a ground wire, and have it switchable to boot.

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

yesterday afternoon while we were going to a "raft up" ,,,,,,running in the channel, i musta hit something underwater,,, yep i was paying attention and we were runnin in 25 ft of water( i guess it coulda been a submarine:eek:),,, anyway it sounded like my coupler went, really loud bangin noise,,, so i got her off to the side to investigate and once i raised the outdrive and 1 of the 3 fins was broken completely off,,,, it looked like mickey mouse was staring back at me,,,lol. so after a quick prop change we were on our way and suffered no other damage than the mickey mouse prop.

we got 22 hours on her now ,,,,,, I have had to tighten down some bolts, but all is running cool and smooth. we are eagerly awaiting the oil change this coming week.....
heading back out now,,, hope we dont find the submarine again:mad: cause i officially dont have a spare,,,,,
hope everyones having a great weekend.
remember,,,,, sunday is funday

Bad news, Mark! But I'm glad you had a spare prop so that you could continue your float. Was that your new prop??? Gotta watch out for those submarines!

Mark, when I see the big log floating down the river with two shiny blades stuck in her I will know what it is! Sometimes it sucks boating on a river for sure, but offshore can be just as bad when you rip the whole outdrive off on a turtle or something. Glad everything worked out and everyone was safe. Are you running stainless or aluminum?

By the way, the lights look great and knowing about the black wire/switch thingy is going to come in handy. :)

no that was the previous spare one i had,( that was marked and at least i got my baseline, with it) 14.5x 17p i guess it served its purpose,,, but still sorry to lose it. i got my eye on a solas 4blade 15 pitch here on iboats
http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Mer...****=999688239
that should raise my wot around 300rpm,,, i believe if my knowledge is correct.

i run aluminum props,,,, i ran a stainless one last year when i had the wrong gears in the outdrive,,,, but was nervous the whole time it was on there,,, if i had the ss one on there the other day, i mighta been shopping for a lower unit,, they just make me nervous is all,,, not bashing the ss ones,,,, i just know my luck.

and thanks the new addition is a lil extra boat bling we had a light show the othernight while raftin,,,, someone made the mistake of saying,,, too bad they dont come in blue,,,,bahaha,,,,funny everyone has a favorite color,,,, when we went all pink the girls went bananas,,,,lmao,,,,,,,
it seems the bugs arent so attracted to the red and orange, so thats what i been useing lately.
also the lights on the back rail are taking the heat and keeping the bugs on the transom instead of in the cockpit,,, big smiles there for sure.

the switch thing works great, although wont be used as i havent got in trouble with the lit up transom

Budd, i been looking at your running light set up and had to steal the all around idea, cause quite frankly i hated to put on that back pole light at nite,,,,, it washed out some of the colors,,, and that is unacceptable,,,,,bahaha. so i took my windshield anchor light and extended the heck outa it, so it's now above the bimini,,,, and i dont need to have the back pole light on at all,,,,shaweet,,,
allaroundlightupgrade007.jpg

so my test night was great,,, it can be seen from anywhere around the boat,,,,and dosent affect my lightshow,,,,, succsess,,,shaweet,,,my original plan was to get one of those bimini top lightfixtures, but as you all know i am pretty impatient,, so i used an old pole light on top of the 12 in winshield light pole. that will do well for now.

sorry bought the quote thingy,,,, iboats went sideways and the only way to save was a copy n paste

Mark, if you run a stainless prop like I have it has a rubber insert hub with brass. If the prop hits something it will spin that so as not to hurt the outdrive. I think they also make them for the aluminum ones, but you will get better performance from the stainless prop than the aluminum in most cases.

Its funny what you said, I had the same thing happen, while at the local watering hole on the river, I left the light shining and the manager knows me and that I am doing installs now, so he was showing everyone the boat. One of the guys didn't even want to walk over to it because they weren't blue. I said reall, so I turned the blue on,lmao. And yes, the girls I find like all the colors, but the pink gets there attention, lol :) Fun Fun Fun!

Glad you got the 360 light worked out. It is nice not to have the glare when looking towards the stern also with a stern mounted pole. The overhead 360 is nice when you have a place to mount it from. doesn't work on all boats.

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

Budd,
i gotcha with the ss prop hub but it still makes me way nervous with all the debis in the water. and i love not having that light in my face anymore, which clears up my nightvision while looking back, big smiles for sure.

we overnighted again tue night so we could get an early start on wednesday and all i can say is fan-friggen-tastic!!!!!!!! we had a beautiful night and i'm only sorry that i didn't get a cabin sooner,,,,,,,thats a big piece of the pie we been missing all these years.

so yesterday i helped install a set of Chris's coastal underwaters on a raftin buddies boat he opted for the single version in blue. all went well with no issues besides a lil flickering here and there about 5 min apart,,,,,, note if you install these,, be carefull what you piggyback your power to,,, he has a 23 foot celebrity cuddy and had no fuse block to take clean power from. stage 2 of the install will be to run the power wire directly to the battery( i ran the - back,,, just not the +) which should take care of the flickering,,,lol.

without my camera i wasnt able to get pics last night of the newly extended blue raftup:D,,,, but i can say that his celebrity has a flatter transom( not as leaned back) and skinnier swim platform so,,,,, you guessed it, the singles were brighter than my doubles,,,the admiral noticed it right away:eek::facepalm:, bahahaha shish, who knows maybe i got some ohio river slime on my lights as well, thats tonites homework.

it seems that the larger bahama water really calls in the minnows, however we only caught a few white bass and the admiral tangled with a larger channel cat(22inch) but we were a little off on the sweetspot of the creekmouth due to other fisherman.

on the way back to the slip i finally got to see how those underwaters look from a trailing boat,,,, and you really dont see them to much! i saw the bulbs for a min before he retracted his tabs into a nice plane, then all that you see is a small glow:D, the double glow up the beaver (at no wake) to the slip was way cool, and b dock will never be the same:D,,,,lol
anyone wana guess how long before he puts the rgb's in?,,,,, bahahahaha,,,lmao
