89 Merc 115 4cyl Tilt/Trim electrical problem

I used the boat 2 weeks ago and discovered I needed to overhaul the fuel system, done, runs fine on the fake a lake.
While doing a once over inspection of controls and switchs before heading out for a lake test, I discovered the Trim Down on my Quicksilver 2000 Commander Remote Control didn't work, not even a click from the solenoid. The stern switch Trim Down did not work, and the bow switch did not work at all.
Cleaned the stern trim switch and re-did the blue/white and green/white wiring splices with new connectors. Stern switch now works but blows the 25amp fuse when trimming down.
Control and bow switch have not changed. Wiring home runs from front to back switch look great with little to no chaffing, resistance test of those home runs performed ok.
My concern currently is the Commander Trim switch. I'm thinking if I get it to work properly everything will.
Should I be looking at the Commander Trim Switch or the Down Solenoid.
FYI if it matters, the Tilt/Trim had a brush kit installed by the dealer a few years ago and although sluggish (maybe just me) has worked find.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Update: I have now cleaned and retorqed all solenoid connections. Both up and down solenoids bench tested ok, but still haveing problem.

are you popping fuse because motor draws too much or because there's a short?

I have looked at both issues. Inspected and or replaced every wire or connector related to the boats wiring. Bow and stern switchs are home runned together and pigtailed off of the blue/white green/white trim wires near the rear trailering switch. I totally unplugged or bypassed the boats bow and stern trim switchs and have also taken them apart for cleaning and lubrication with dielectric grease, no change. I'm befuddled...
Don't know how to check amp draw on the motor but have the manual and a volt/amp meter, will look into it. Was thinking about popping the top of the trim motor to inspect the brush plate but I have a couple more things to check first.

run a 12v jumper cable to so that you bypass everything except motor. if it still pops the fuse then its the motor.

Re: 89 Merc 115 4cyl Tilt/Trim electrical problem

Removed all trim connections between Remote Control, bow and stern trim switchs, and the motor again. Connected only the boat bow and stern switchs bypassing the remote control and stopped blowing fuses.
Ran resistance test from Green/White at the Remote Control to the back where all of my connections are located and it pulled nothing until I hit the switch and it went 1.565 on the down trim side, yikes!! .001 on the trim up side. Replaced Remote Trim Switch and pulled a new Green/White wire just to make sure everything is good all the way to the motor. While I had everything apart, I cleaned up the wiring a bit by getting rid of the manufacturers hodge podge of solderless connectors and barrel connectors at the back of the boat.
Anywho, all good for now, hope this post helps someone.
Thanks everyone,,, RRitt.
