I have to agree with tash. Even before i got my latest boat i spent many hours here just looking at what others, with the same setup as mine were having problems with.
Then i got sucked in to the vortex in the chat room and here i am.
That reminds me tash you have never answered me on how hard it was to take the interior out of you Spectrum.

Hey PJ, which Spectrum do you have?

Its a 1989 spectrum 1700. Good boat after a day on the water when i pull the plug maybe a 1/2 cup of water comes out and i think it is well thought out for the space. The only draw back is it only seats 3 comfortable. Any more and your tripping over each other.

Thanks, I was just curious as its not a real common boat. I recently downsized and wound up with a 95 Dominator with a 75 Merc on it. I haven't had the interior out but has to take the front and rear decks off to run some new wires. Lots of screws makes you love those cordless drills.

Re: '89 Spectrum

I just purchased a 1990 17' Spectrum/Blufin and seem to have gotten a fairly good boat. Has anyone out there ever drilled the factory rivets on one of these? I want to replace the carpet, and possibly the wood around the dash and windshield frame, but am concerned about what will happen when I drill the rivets. Any experience wood be appreciated! Thanks

Re: '89 Spectrum

i cut all the rivets out of the deck when i replaced my deck, but non of the structure. replacing the carpet on the gunnels is a real PITA, it is glued, i ended up using cheap spray paint applied in thin coats to make mine look better. it actually worked.

Spectrum, was a Brunswick Boat marketed to the beginners, most with Force motors, they were priced as an entry level boat. do to lack of care, by the entry owners, they are getting scarce.
