Re: 89 vip valiant 4.3 to 5.0l swap
getting ready to purchase a 5.0l 302 ford engine and replace the 4.3 chevy in my VIP. Both boats are 1989 VIP's. Mines a Valiant and i believe his is a Victory. Im going to use everything from the coupler back from the 4.3. Will all the wiring be compatible? What kind of troubles will i run into or is this a pretty simple swap? Thanks for all the help. Just a personal opinion mind you, but I wouldn't trade a 4.3L GM engine for ANY Ford engine.
Everything ("Marine") will be harder to source (exhaust manifolds, risers, etc)
I am not sure you can use the coupler from a GM engine on a Ford.
You would me money ahead to find a 5.0/5.7L GM engine. Also, understand that your drive ratio will be wrong (although it might work "ok")
