8hp Chrysler runs good for a free one

picked this up today and can't find the model number on it. It resembles one of the pumpkin 9.5 Johnsons. Where do I look to find the model number. I have two other Chrysler motors and both of them have the model number located on the belly pan.

checked the compression and spark last night and found both to be good. Put it in a barrel today and she fired and ran on the second pull. A lot of mouse nest came out of the exhaust and she started pumping water. Good running little motor for getting it free. 1976 8hp

Man, I thought I was doing good with my 1968 6.6 for $25. You got me beat in price and horse power.

I have noticed while working on these old chryslers that they are built well. Good little motors. Mine sounds like a weed eater, but runs well.

mine runs very smooth and sounds good. I also have a 67 6hp and a 67 20 hp. The 6 hp is a very good runner. I just got the 20 hp to spark on both cylinders tonight, but have not tried to run it yet. It was a freebie too.

I love my little 6.6. I have a Johnson 9.5 also, but I find myself using the little 6.6 more often on my jon boat. I like the smoothness of the way it sounds how light it is.

I would like to have a bout a 20 for my jon to go fast.

got the 20 hp running. It will need a carb rebuild and a fuel pump rebuild but it sounded good and strong.
