9.9 runs and then floods out?

I have a '90 9.9 Merc. I can fire it up but have to keep revving it up quite high to keep it going. After a bit it will flood itself out. <br /> Could the carb need a cleaning, this is the first time I have tried to fire it up this year.

welcome aboard,<br />sounds like the float in the fill bowl is sticking.<br />sometimes a light tap on side of bowl can unstick,<br />but you should probably pull the carb and install<br />a new rebuild kit and give her a good cleaning.<br />good luck,<br />M.Y.
