Last night after messing around with a friend coming back to the dock, I pull off plane and the boat dies. Go to crank - no start. Pulled the cowl and saw the idle timing set screw jam nut came loose, I figured no big deal, fresh plugs and set the timing, I'll be good in the morning.
So today I go out and take a peek, I'm not getting spark at all. I open up the crap manual I bought that has given me no help in the past, and is continuing. I don't have the Johnson/Evinrude tool to check whatever it's asking me to check at the timer base, which I can't understand what it's asking that a multi-meter can't do. Anyway, no spark on any hole. Power at the orange wire on the bus bar while cranking, what are my next steps? I pulled the 4 pin plug to start to check per the manual, but I don't have the correct tool to do this, or if a multi-meter will do it, I don't know the settings it's asking for.
Thanks for the help in advance fellas
Dustin
BTW
Following tests done making sure the teather is in and the plugs are out to crank.
Purple wire to bus bar key on = 12+V
Two Yellow wires from Stator to bus bar = 12+V
Gray wire at bus bar = 5V while cranking
Two orange wires from stator at bus bar = 5V while cranking
I have no way to check the advance timer base apparently.
Anything to be said out of this info?
