Just repowered my boat and went with the 90 etech. Will pick it up Saturday and very anxious to try it out. Spent a lot of time researching as to what to get and was sold on what the etech had to offer over the competition. Warranty, maintenance and performance seems to be a step ahead of the competition. Time will tell....

Good luck in your considerations!

Re: 90 Hp Etec Evinrude

I have a 2007 90hp E-tec on my 2006 Lund 1600 Pro-Sport. The motor is fantastic. What first blew me away was how quiet these engines are. The first time I started it in the lake I had to look back just to make sure it was running. (You'll see when you start it up the first time). I was coming from a 25hp Suzuki which I am sure was at least double if not triple the noise level.

Second, the fuel economy is really good. My father has a 1984 90hp Johnson and even though that motor is solid, my etec far betters it in fuel consumption by a long shot.

Cold starting is not an issue. Whether it was +20 celsius or +5 celsius the motor started immediately with no smoke cloud hanging over the water.

With proper set-up and prop selection you should have no worries about this engine. It starts easy, runs great, idles smooth and is everything you want from an outboard.

What will you be mounting it on?
