I'm new to this forum and just wanted to say hi to start things off. I just purchased my first boat and everything runs good on it. So i went and changed the lower unit oil and found it to be milky. I've called around and they said I need to do a seal kit on the lower unit. I'm sure I can do it cause I'm a mechanically inclined type of person and I've taken a lower unit off before but I don't have a manual to walk me through it to show me what needs to be changed. If you guys have a link to something like that will you please let me know and where I can buy a seal kit from. Any help would be much appreciated

Also I have noticed oil seepage out of the vent holes above and just forward of the vent/fill plugs. A friend told me a little water in the oil is normal to an extent and not knowing how long since the oil has been changed is this just possibly normal? The oil is still thick and it's not to thinned out instead of being creamy from being severly diluted by water it's a burnt orange.

be sure to check the sealing washer on the fill plugs, as they're VERY important [keeps water from entering while the boat is in the water] look at this simple thing first and keep us posted as to what you find. turboman.

All plugs have their seals on them. And those vent holes that oil seepage is coming out of are forward and lower of the vent/fill plugs

And tell your friend that ANY amount of water in the lower unit is not normal. A properly sealed lower should keep ALL water out--for the life of the seals. Old lower unit lube should look just like new lube. No milkyness, no particles, no nothing!
