I have a 70 hp 2 stroke yamm. motor that has always run great.
Recently however, when running, the engine started to bog down and have no power. Then, it stalled out.
We could restart it and it would idle rough, then when we would push forward on the throttle, the engine would bog down and run very rough with no rpms and would die out.
Now, i can not get the engine to start, unless i spray engine start directly into carb....then it dies out.

I have pulled the gas line and I am getting gas to the engine.
Is it possible that I have water in the gas?

Re: 90 hp Yam. sputtering

before you go too wild pulling things to bits, try the very obvious stuff first, can you borrow a complete tank and hose? replace the plugs, I do believe those carbies have a drain on the float bowls, if so, drain them, get someone to move the throttle lever all the way to full (without the engine running) make sure you turn the prop to let the gears engage, do you see the timer assy under the flywheel move as well as the throttles on the carbies? do these quick almost no cost things first, you must start with very basics first, then get back to us with the results.
