Can anyone give me an opinion on this nicely restored 5032893 Mercury? Not sure if they put the correct decals on it, but it looks great inside and out. Were these a good motor? It has the I.O. type trim/tilt. Wondering if the Mercury lovers give this model a good rating.......maybe a value on it? It runs beautifully, tremendous torque. I have a buyer for the boat but doesn't want the motor, he wants to put his own 115 Johnson on the boat instead. Thanks a million for any imput. TimMercury 90 power tower.jpg

Can't say what it is worth(varies with the area)but these old Tower of Powers have a rather large following.I'm running a 73 1500 myself .I wouldn't think you would have any trouble sellin it.I would think that in my area you could easily get a $1000 for it in good shape.

Thanks, I wonder what your knowledge is on the year and horsepower based on this serial #? Seems the stickers may not be exact to the year. Wasn't red highlight the late 60's/early 70's?

look up your serial number in the Model Guide on Maxrules.com. It will tell the year of the motor.

I ame up with 1978. The decals on the wrap around are custon made. The lower one is stock, so it's a 90hp 1978. Serial # confirms this.

manitou trip 6-9-11 003.jpgThanks a million, what are your opinions of its value?.....Seems pretty fair on fuel and more power and torque than my 1989 115 4cyl. Just spent $350 on the 115 and refreshed all the electronics. The 115 is very sensitive to prop selection it seems........a guy should keep 2 or 3 different props on hand when multitasking a heavy boat like the Trophy 170. Oil injection seems to overload a bit when running under 1600 rpm, but plugs stay clean as we use mostly at 3500 to 4800 rpm. Were the horsepower ratings a bit off on these 6 poppers? If it wasn't for the mpg, I'd almost rather have the "Tower".
