My 1991 90hp force which has run very well for me for the last 5 years has developed a problem were it ocasionally stalls while running at full throttle. if I pull the throttle back to idle for a few minutes it will then run fine. It might run for the rest of the day without doing it again. However, it is now happening more frequently. I have searched the forum and I am starting to think it might be the fuel pump. I don't think it's a clogged line, if I squeeze the ball when it's stalling it has know effect on the engine. I have rebuilt automotive engines and I would like to try to do this repair myself if it does not get to involved. Would appreciate any advice,
Thanks,
BirdEye

Well, it could be electrical, but more-likely, fuel related. Check the compression first.
Then, look for water in the carb bowls and fuel tank. This is much more common than it sounds.

I have an 88 Force 125hp and had the same type problem. I found out it was the last thing I would ever think of, the battery. I had put a new battery in and it runs perfect now. Actually I ended up putting two in, but I checked everything in the fuel system and nothing seemed to make a difference then it just happened to be the battery.

Hope this helps.

Bryan Cox
