From my experiance they are located behind the three intake port covers, they are a small hole which has a small nylon restrictor inside, thus making the hole very small, I was told they recirculate unused fuel and oil back through the engine. I think that is what he is referring to.

They are inside the tiny hole in the lower corner of the intake channel inside the port cover. When you rebuild it, be sure to replace the inner exhaust plate around the exhaust ports. If you don't bore it, be prepared for the engine to run great for a short while and go back to lack-luster idle and low speed performance. The blocks wear tapered and the rings wont stay seated once the new wears off. Honing it to square the holes makes it worse. The rings won't make a good seal if you have over .003 to .004 wear. The only way to fix it is to bore and replace all six pistons.

I find the above top be "true" but also an "extreme view". Yes, you get out of a rebuild what you put into it. That said, many an inline that loses a piston will be quite happy with a replacement of the one, and a quick hone and re-ring of the other 5 - and be years ahead of where it was at.

-W
