I'm new to this boating adventure and have taken the Bayliner out and looking for ideas for getting from the captain's chair to the bow of the boat to release the anchor, tieup, etc. I have walked the narrow ledge on the perimeter of the boat and that is exciting but time consuming. The windshield is split in the middle and opens to climb through but I need to step on the seat and step up on the dash and walk through. This is more tricky on the return as stepping down is awkward. The entry to the cabin is also directly below this access so any permanent ladder would make getting to the cabin difficult. I had thought of getting a collapsable ladder and attach to dash that could be stowed easily but I don't know of a source. Does anyone else with this situation have some other solution?

My boat came with a step mounted under the helm that swings out to allow you to step up to the foredeck:

Seems like something similar would work for you.

The safest way, if possible, is through the front hatch. Over the windshield is very dangerous, nothing to hold on to. Newer 2655s have a molded step (still tricky) and wider sills around the sides (preferred method).
