My 1992 Evinrude 6 hp starts fine, but after a few minutes, it begins to lose power and then stall. I've noticed that when I pull out the choke or squeeze the fuel bulb leading from the gas tank as the engine is stalling that the engine revives breifly before stalling completely. I've been told that the carbeurator needs to be rebuilt and/or that the fuel pump needs to be replaced. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Mitch D.

i'd go with the carb. float needle sticking, not allowing gas to refilled the bowl. squeezing the bulb forces the needle open. also check spark after it shuts down, before rebuild.

Could be all of those things, or it could be as simple as a blocked/closed tank vent. I always try to check the easiest and cheapest first, but then that's me.
