Thx...Does Home depot even sell untreated lumber?
Any construction store like that should sell untreated.

What is wrong with the treated? asking and not debating...
Same as the varnish. Treated is meant to be liquid repellent/resistant, counter productive to absorbing resin.

I get that...I was gonna use the varnish on areas I'm not glassing in..
Like where? Every bit of structural wood should have glass over it.

appreciate it....

Guys, as far as resin and stuff. I'm generally an epoxy guy..I love the West systems stuff because of the pumps as it is idiot proof...Total boat has some stuff that is cheaper with good reviews...Can I use epoxy with some amazon CSM? I thought epoxy didn't work with some CSM?? I have some woven material I can use instead if that is the case....Thx.

If you use csm it needs to be stitched. The epoxy won't dissolve the binder used with most all csm sold.

You can use epoxy, it'll be expensive.

The stitched 1708 glass will be much stiffer, and need some time to soak up the resin, meaning you will need to add a generous amount of thickened resin at the base of the stringers to fill in the corners or else it will probably lift.

I haven't used epoxy resin, but it needs to be more precise with the mix ratio. Polyester resin if more forgiving, cheaper, and will let you use csm.

Thx...I have both..I was gonna use the epoxy to get stuff in place and then use the poly resin to laminate stuff and use PVA to cure it...Is that OK?

Why did you buy a boat older than 2015?

ALL boats in the 80s and 90s and most in the 00s used wood.

Many boats today have engineered stringer tubs glued together with Plexus or other glorified glue. The glue joints become the failure point
I get what you are saying for sure...Because I use a boat about 20-25 times a year and it sits under a cover for 5 months a year...I have like 10-15K to spend on a boat...A boat isn't a great investment for sure...The 2015 and up boats are out of what I want to spend on a luxury item like this...I'm not financing or spending 40k on a boat.. I get what I got, but I can deal with it...Financial decisions like that are why I have a fully paid for home and not wasting crazy money on a very bad depreciating asset...You have to love it to deal with it...😊
