Hey what's up guys!

My name is Paul, and this is my first post on here! I'm from Arlington, Texas. I've always been in the PWC game but this is my first boat.

I recently bought a 93 vip 1930 that's in pretty good shape considering it's been sitting since 2007. Has some soft spots in the floor, interior is pretty much shot, and we'll the 4.3 "mercruiser alpha 1" is locked up!.

I bought a 89 mercruiser 5.7 from a guy, complete harness, gauges, outdrive ect.. guy showed me that it ran, and compression checked out across the board. I've been working on swapping the motors over and this last weekend I finally got everything bolted up, and ready to start. When you go to turn it over nothing happens, the harness from the v8 seems to have one more wire in the plug when you compare it to the 4.3's plug.

Anyone know If these harnesses are the same? Are there wires flipped around? The vip has only the key to start the boat, where the 89 5.7 setup has key and push button start. Anyone ever run into this? Should I run the v8 harnes? Currently have the 4.3 harness still setup.

Are there any download able work shop manuals for these old mercruiser around?

Let me know what you guys think, and suggest.

Thanks paul!

Have a pic of the two plugs?

All right here is the plug from the 4.3 harness, "blue". Somthing else, the plug on the 5.7 sits on the front, and on the 4.3 it sits on the back of the motor

Here is the plug from the 5.7 harness I got with the motor "white". I left the 4.3 harness in the boat when I swapped the motors out.

The first pic is the vip instrument pannel, and the second one is the parts boat IC.

Your old engine didn't have a warning horn/buzzer installed. The horn is mounted under the helm and is connected to 12V. The other side of the horn goes to a Tan/Blue wire which is connected to the oil pressure and temperature switches. On Boats with Bravo drives it is also connected to the drive lube bottle.

When you go to turn it over nothing happens,

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard Paul,...... Ya need to get a test light, 'n follow the power,....

You've got the battery hooked up, follow the power from the battery terminal on the starter, 'n see where it goes,....

My guess is, ya missed a wire at the starter connections,.... Donno, but it Still should be plug, 'n play,....
