My fishin buddy and I have a 1993 Yamaha V4 130hp. About six months ago it started to bog down after running for awhile. There would be no water spitting, so we replaced the water pump and t-stats. OK for awhile, then started doing it again. The run times before the acting up just keeps getting sooner and sooner. Since then we have taken it to (2)repairmen. The first said he could find nothing wrong but, mentioned some ignition wiring harness and key switch?? They thought it may be shorting and throwing itself into choke. This kinda made since because when it bogs you can turn it off then back on and go for awhile until it does it again. We did not change those because my buddy has known the guy for awile and didn't care for him but, we were and still are desperate. The last rebuilt the carb, changed out the fuel filters, did a tune-up, replaced the water pressure valve, replace t-stats(again). When we run it with the motor in a barrel, no problems, spits hard. Take it the water, starts acting up again, spits when it wants to. No alarms, no buzzers going off. My buddy feels it is 2 seperate issues. I just want to fix it. Which is why I am throwing up the hell mary here for any help I can get.
I have been through every forum I could find hoping to find a similar problem. From what I have seen in forums, I assume it is throwing it self into some kind of safety. We are going out this afternoon to video it so we have something to show a repairman becuase it does not do it when they have it because it only does it when its in the water, under a load????? Is it possible to post it here?? Is there anything we can check while we are out to narrow down our frustration and aggrevation. I have seen posts that say fuel pump, fuel, vacuum? and other misc. stuff. I am new at this so, I tried to write as much as I knew on the problem. I am sorry if it was a long post. We just want to get our girl fixed and start fishing again. And, we are driving our wives mad being at home and not on the water.
