94 115HP Crossflow oil Alarm

I picked up a 17 Ft Glasply powered with a 115 Bubbleback johnson. Has spark and good compression. I changed the oil in the oil resevoir because what ever they had in it was smoking like a banshee. Replaced it with XD-50 oil. When I took it out the first time I ran it off and on from No wake zones to WOT for close to an hour. Then sounded an alarm and shut her down instantly and it would not fire back up. Took home and pumped fuel through the carbs with plugs out and returned. It fired right up and ran great. That time I turned it off so fast I was unsure what tone sounded. I also rechecked spark and compression. Good. I put it in the water and fired right up so left to idle and helped wife get kids from the truck. When I got back down about 5 minutes total had elapsed and I was getting a no oil alarm. Shut it down and gave it a few minutes and tried to restart. I do believe the carbs probably need to be cleaned. Also flipped fuel selonoid and still nothing. I got advise on another forum for some testing i can do but I left out on that one that I had just changed the oil. Obviously I broke the vacuum to the oil line and stupidly in the haste of trying to get to the launch did not even think about it. Quick side notes. Tone was every other second. Head temps were 95ish after I shut her down. (If no oil wouldn't it heat up quicker?)I did not even think about air in the system. From what i have read the no oil sensor is in the mixing chamber of the vro where the fuel and oil mix. Could the oil line of had enough oil in it for the first test run to last for 45 minutes to an hour of run time? Could I have an airlock in the VRO causing my problem. I have not tried to start it since I have been home. I also have no tach and believe that possibly the VRO is faulty. This is my first boat and first large outboard I've worked on. Just was curious if my problem could possibly be air in the VRO?

It might be air, those alarms work on a pulse plunger that if it doesnt actuate every few engine strokes it sets off the alarm.
95% of people on here will recommend to you removing the vro and premixing. Those VROs have killed many many motors

No oil does NOT cause the motor to run hot !----The cooling system keeps the motor cool as you found.------Oil side should have been primed to get rid of any air.------Mix at 50:1 in your fuel tank until you get this sorted out.-----Perhaps run the test on the VRO to confirm it is working..
