Hi all,
Working on a customer's E140TLERR (ser G 03523014), a '94 V4 140 HP. He moved into the area 4 years ago and the boat has been sitting stewing in its old gas ever since. Nice setup for cleaning the fuel tank out as it comes out of this hull in about a half hour. The whole deck comes up with a handful of screws. That done, kitted the carbs, replaced the fuel lines and primer bulbs and went to tune it up. It won't push water out the telltale. Water flowing out around the prop and drains in the lower, but nothing up top.
So, pulled the lower figuring the pump was shot. It don't look too bad. There is some set on the impeller. But it is reasonably soft and pliable. Ordered a complete new pump for it though. Not installed yet.
The one surprise is if I blow air into the water pipe that goes up through the exhaust housing, no air whatsoever escapes from the motor. Nada. I am not sure it is an open system, but seems it would have to allow some water to bypass the thermostat just to keep the pump form melting in its own juices.
Thoughts?
Rick
