94 Force controls

I am looking at possibly buying a 1994, 40 HP Force. But the motor won't come with controls, and I was wondering if there are any other controls that will work for this motor. It does have power tilt and trim.<br /><br />Dan

You can pick up new controls with cables for about $300.<br />Get them from here on iboats mall, or from a merc dealer.

OK guys and gals, please correct my line of thinking if it is slightly or wholly askew. After some thought I came to the conclusion that you should THEORETICALLY be able to attach just about any set of controls to any motor. I will have to look at the controls more closely to see just exactly how the throttle works on both the controls and the engine though I think. I mean, don't they all basically do the same thing? Don't get me wrong, you would have to have a wiring diagram, but shouldn't you be able to make it work? I have a set off of a 70's evinrude and I am really thinking that with a little research and some ingenuity that it could be made to work. Now bear in mind that I am basing this on ASSUMPTIONS that I have in regards to how the controls work. Of course I could be way off in this thinking (most likely). The evinrude controller may not have the throw length required to shift the Force motor.<br /><br /> This controller and these Control cables,you need two, should work fine togeter.
