`94 johnson50 hp questions

I bought a fishing boat w/50hp johnson on it. It was garage kept, but sat unused due to the death of the original owner. I cleaned out the carbs and replaced old fuel with new. It idled fine with muffs on it, I put it in a lake and it ran ruff for about 15 min. then smoothed out and ran fine. When I lined it up to put it on the trailer it idled ALOT faster than it had whenI first stated running it. Any idea what caused it to idel faster? And what should I do to correct the problem? Any info. is appreciated. JD

running leans at idle. you need to do some service on the motor. you need to do a carb rebuild kit. impeller, read the TOP SECRET FILE. 1st post in this forum. you need 2 of these. http://www.iboats.com/mall/partfind...=50&gd_search_11578=1994&**********=247604030

i own several of these motors.

Thanks for the info. Should I get the kit(s) with the floats, just to be on the safe side, or the ones without?

i rarely replace floats these days. only on old motors that have the cork floats.
