I had to disassemble my lower end on my engine to adjust the shift cam, seems it only had reverse and neutral :p

Anyway, I noticed they (whoever had the boat prior) used, "form a gasket" to adhere the lower end to the top end, I tried looking for this gasket everywhere and can't seem to find one. My question is, does this exist, and where can I buy it?

Thanks

you have three fluids in the lower end, exhaust gasses, gear oil, and water... Don't you want to have a gasket there?

Who says I am arguing, I am questioning your answer as having those three items in one casing, it would make sense to have a gasket?!?! I didn't know your were the ultimate authority on boating, sorry for questioning your answer.

Can someone else please comment on this, I don't want to think I'm crazy here? I'm about to reassemble the lower end, does it make sense to make a gasket, or will the lower end seal fine to the top end w/o needing a gasket/adhesive?
