Hey guys I’m about to replace the steering cable on my 94 eclipse 196s. It has the 4.3 alpha 1 stern drive. It’s gotten very hard to steer and everything I’ve read points to this cable. Trying to get some information on this part and make sure I order the correct one! Any suggestions or advice would be very much appreciated thx

There should be a number stamped into the plastic jacket of the cable. You can get this# and figure out what You need. Usually a whole steering kit that includes the helm isn't much more money than replacing the cable alone.

You will want to disconnect the cable from the power steering ram, and check it. Those Alpha power steering units often have the cable seize in the tube. Usually you can clean and relube it...
