95 bayliner wierd whining engine noise.

I the famous 3.0 mercruiser and just recently it starting making a wierd whining noise when i accelerate and gets louder the more gas i give it. It runs good i guess but does anyone know what it is?

From where? You're going to have to listen and figure out where the noise is coming from, we can't hear it.

Definetly from the front of the motor, and it only makes the sound when its trimmed down. Its like a sound a car speaker makes when u mess the wires up and can hear the motor in them.

Tighten the alternator belt.

I already had tightened the belt today and it didnt fix it.

Try removing the belt completely and see if the noise stops. Don't run the engine very long, that belt also operates the circulation pump.

Try turning the pump and alternator by hand and see if they feel rough in movement.

Dang it i forgot to turn them by hand. you are on to something because it doesnt make the noise when the belt is off.

Thanks Alot! You hit the nail on the head i turned them both and even tho i could bearly feel and hear little grind and squeek in the altenater that seems to be the problem! The water pump sounded good and smooth.
