While test driving a pontoon boat with a 90 Evinrude, the oil alarm beeped after a couple minutes of idle. The motor seemed to do fine proir to this and did not do it after recranking. The owner said that the oil tank loses pressure sometimes and needs the oil tank bubble pumped. Does this sound accurate? Please help.

Re: '95 Evinrude 90hp oil alarm

Sometimes after sitting a long time, it takes a squeeze of the oil tank primer bulb to shut the alarm up. I see it most often in the spring at first start-up. If the boat is used frequently and you still get it, it could be a problem worth looking into. If it's really rare, don't worry.

Re: '95 Evinrude 90hp oil alarm

Thanks for the reply. This boat had been sitting for more than a year. It has 194 hrs. on it. It ran very well and did so for over an hour. It was only after I took the oil cap off to check the oil and then let the motor run for several minutes that the alarm sounded.
