hello, i've got a '96 30 hp yamaha ser.#61TS004054
when it's running, it has a loud knock, that sounds like a con rod, but it's not steady enough for that. also, if i hold the stator plate with my finger, it stops knocking, and runs smooth. when i pulled the flywheel, there was a plastic ring that looks like the stator turns on. it is cracked with a piece missing. this is all ican see that hold the stator in position. has anybody seen this before? and does anybody have a link to an online manual for this motor? any thing else it may be?
