I am replacing the u-joint bellow on my 96 Bravo III sterndrive. The shift cable bellow was replaced (with cable) last year and there is no exhaust bellow (tube option). The gimball bearing is also good, so it is just the u-joint bellow that needs to be replaced due to slight cracking (not leaking just yet). Anyway, my question is in regards to the shift cable (that is installed and new), water hose and oil hose.
Concerning the shift cable, does that have to be disconnected from inside and completely removed from boat to take the bell housing off the boat?
Concerning the water inlet hose, how does that get removed so that the bell housing will come off? I have read there are inner clamps that need to come out and would need to be replaced?
Concerning the oil hose, how does that disconnect from the bell housing?
Since I am only replacing the u-joint bellow, maybe the bell housing doesn't need to come completely off, or does it?
