Purchased a used boat with Force 120 that is running wonderfully.. Serial # is OE187052.. Does anyone know what the optimum engine operating RPM is? Looking to change props and need this as a reference.. It's running approx 48MPH at 5500 RPM.. Have not looked at the current prop yet to see what pitch it is running.. Do the OE props have the cupped edges?
Thanks!!

Hi Smooth
I don't know what you expect to gain. I guess you just have a little too much money and need to get rid of some. From what you say, you allready have as good as it gets. If it ain,t broke don't fix it.

48 at 5500 RPM. That is pretty good for a 120 Force. What kind of boat is it on. Is that GPS speed or by the boat speedometer? According to my books you are at the top of your power range (4500-5500 rpm).

From the sounds of it you are doing fine and dont need to fix anything

Deerdog

The prop that is on the boat, 17' Maxum Openbow, is pretty beat up.. The previous owner had run it in the river and beat it around a little.. Was wanting to get something to replace it and was wanting to see if I should change anything else when I put on a new prop... Thanks for the info guys.. And that is boat speed, not GPS..

Yeah SmoothSL take Alcan's advice. I have a '91 120 that I am still trying to start. Mine runs a bass boat, "when it runs", at around 44 mph. Don't mess with a Force that runs that well.
