96 Johnson 130 Warning Horn ?

What does it mean when the warning horn sounds in short bursts approximately every 5 seconds ? The motor seems to be smoking a little too. I ran it out of fuel just prior to this, and had a hard time getting it started again.<br /><br />Thx <br />1996 Johnson 130 Hp

You are out of oil...<br />You should check the oil right now and dont try to start it before you put some oil in there.<br />I guess you got an seperate oil tank.<br />Didn't you get that beep for about every 20 sec before? thats than warning for low oil.<br />The every 5 sec is run out of oil.<br />And no smoke is a sign of something with the oil.<br /><br />Good luck

If your motor is a 1996, you should have the 4 warning lites that show overheat, low oil, check engine, or no oil. The horn will sound for 10 seconds as a warning and one of the lites will stay on showing what the problem is.
