I just ran the boat, 2-hours later tried to start turned over twice then would not engage. Have full chaged battery, clean posts, starter spins but will not raise up. If I manually pull it up it does not have enough power to turn the flywheel. I assumed it was the selniod and replaced it. No difference. If I hold my hand on the selnoid I feel a "click". I figure next to replace the starter...but hate to do it if this is'nt it. Appreciate any advice.

Howdy, CHL.

Using jumper cables, jump directly from the battery to the engine block (neg) and the hot terminal on the starter (pos). If she cranks the engine, your starter is good. If not your starter needs repair. I expect that your starter is good.

If the starter is good, disconnect all high current electrical cables, clean the connections and reinstall. Give special attention to the connection of the battery ground cable to the engine block.

Let us know what results you get to see if we need to go further.

Good luck. :)

JB, thanks for the tips. I will do today and let you know. I take it when you say to disconnect the high current electrical cables you mean on the battery. Will give it a shot...very frustrating, got the boat all gased up for fireworks, loaded on 13 family memembers and then it decides not to start! Thanks again. :p
