Good day, new to the forum. I have a 97 250 efi outboard, sn# 0G560075. I stoped using the boat about 1 month ago due to a worn bearing in the lower unit. I just replaced the lower unit with a new one for SEI. Went to start the motor and batteries were low so put a charger on them. Motor will crank now and some times it will fire then dies, but most of the time just cranks. I have checked the fuel pressure and that is good. I will be checking the ignition system next. I did pull the plugs and the plugs were wet, and they have been cleaned, still no fire. I don't know of anything that just replacing the lower unit would of caused this problem. Motor was running fine when I parked it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank Don B

Pretty good chance your battery is the culprit.

Suggest you have the battery load tested to determine condition.

Thanks for the reply but found that the shift interrupt switch was defective, unplug the switch and motor started right away.
