I have a 98 175hp Ficht outboard. took it out of garage to run to prep for season. Attached hose to water fitting turned on water and fired up the motor. motor started right up; then alarm went off for about 5-8 seconds and turned off but engine light came on and stays on. read another post about H20 in fuel filter and how to pull codes. found no water in fuel filter and couldn't get any codes while watching the chk engine lit. didn't flash. nothing flashed with throttle down and key on, engine not runnig. My fuel filter is in front of throttle venturis. also, don't know how to clear codes either.
Everything sounds fine as engine is running. have run it up to 3k just for a couple of seconds. Still nothing odd. Can someone help.
Am glad I didn't drive all the way to Lake Shasta 2+ hrs away to have this happen.
