went to the lake today and the trim wouldnt go up or down. I dont hear a ticking or any sound of life at the motor. I see that there are two relays but dont see a fuse. Is there a fuse for the trim motor circuit. If not would i be wise to change the relays first. Are these relays ones that i can get at auto store or are they pricey mercury items. I should also say this is a 98 50hp 4 stroke. I should also state its been sitting since june when it worked.
thanks in advance for any help

Re: 98 50hp trim

first check is to hot wire the trim motor and verify that your system is fully functional.
next, jumper 12V to the control wire at relay socket. On merc they are usually blue with a white tracer and gn/wht.
if your relays work properly then you need to look at your console switch.
