That's actually a very high pitch and was likely put on after the 5.0 was put in there. You can get higher pitch propellors though. My bet is the gear ratio of the drive is something you can live with.

Once you get your other problem sorted out, put it on the water and see what kind of peak RPM you get.

Sounds great, Thanks for the info. I'm working on getting the boat in the garage so I can pull the engine. Hopefully by Thanksgiving so I can come up with a plan. I've put a few posts on the hull repair subforum and based on some feedback over there I am concerned about rot. The boat seems pretty solid so hopefully its not too bad. Either way, I'll get it running for the summer, and any major rot repair can wait a season if everything else seems ok. I will report back with what I find in the engine.
