A boat by any other name...

Why aren't most bass boats (and most small fresh water boats for that matter) named? I have seen very few of these boats with any type of name conspicuously placed anywhere on them. Practically every sailboat and most saltwater boats do, not to mention all commercial and military ships. I know alot of guys "name" their boats, sometimes seriously, sometimes in jest, but they never display their misplaced creativity. Is this just a salty thing? Is it because there are no suitable locations on a bass/fishing boat? Is it because we've spent all our money on tackle and can't afford the vinyl letters? Wuz the deal?

I ain't crying over it. I just made the observation on another topic and started thinking. That's rare, humor me.

Ironically, my boat is not named either. Don't know why not.

spots

CN, that is a good question, but for me, I just see no reason to do it but that is just me.

Maybe it's where the bassboats run so fast that you could not make out a name on them anyway, dunno.

Most of us poor people with smaller boats and no ocean front property are not as pretentious as those with all the money and a need to let us know about it.

Oh wait, my boat has a name! ?? Nevermind.

Re: A boat by any other name...

I have a 1978 Aerocraft 12 ft alum. boat I repainted and fixed up. I looked in a Lund brochure and painted it like one I seen in it. I've caught several crappie and some catfish from my boat and since I coppied out of the Lund brochure, I named it CrappieCat. I had a friend of mine who makes vinyl decals make the name for me and put it on each side of the boat.

Since most boat names are on the transom, a lot of the bass boats i've seen have such small transoms, You would need binochulers to read the small type fonts needed to fit the name on the transom! :D

My rich, white honkie boat's name is "Mama Don't Dance". Got to put her to bed for the winter today. :(

mine was named before I got it, the letters were peeled off but could still read the outlines of the letters. I didnt like the name and didnt feel like going through the renaming ceremony to make it proper so she will always be invisibly Antoinette I guess.
