Hey everyone, noob to boating and such pretty much. I know a couple things, but could use some help from the experts.
I have a 85hp Johnson Seahorse, year I think is a 1980 after looking at the model number. Model number is J85MLCSA. I looked it up, but I'm still not entirely sure. Also if someone could give me a good spot to get some OEM type manuals it would be helpfull. I looked at the sticky thread, but am not sure of a good place.
Next, today while I was out the motor would not shut off this was just after it felt like I may have skimmed a rock because I heard and felt a thunk... prop just got skimmed a bit nothing major.
took a few minutes of fiddling and when I had the key off and I turned the wheel it went off. I think I have a connection problem becuase my cables might not be giving it much slack. Any help of what to check here whould be appreciated.
Also I read somwhere about controll boxes that I may have the older one that wouldn't have gone with my motor. It does not have the trim switch built into the handel on the box. I have the switch on the dash.
